Experience

I have more than eight years of teaching experience. Currently, I am providing online chemistry lessons to GCSE students from the U.K.I taught year 8-year 12 CBSE, GCSE, and A-level students. I am providing one-to-one classes at a time. Before starting these online classes, I worked as a full-time teacher at different schools in my place, where I took lessons for years 10-year 12 students. I started my career by giving private tuition by joining an institution while I was doing my post-graduation. I have completed my master's in chemistry and a B.ed in physical science.

Tutoring Approach

While taking classes online, I present my well-prepared PowerPoint presentation about the topic and use a pen tab for writing while teaching. My presentation mainly includes pictures to give examples. Teaching is my greatest passion. While teaching my students, I forget everything and never feel I am doing work. I always made my students interact while leading. Learning by interacting will be more effective than simply giving lectures. To clarify the concepts, I start with lifetime examples so students can easily relate.

My aim is to make English easier to learn for everyone. Whether my student is a native english speaker or non-native, I make sure that they understand the basic english concepts and work on three main areas initially including grammar, vocabulary and literary skills (Reading, writing, speaking and listening). I keep the class very engaging so that my students can participate in the activities and even the daily session as well. To be proficient in the English language, students need to be highly engaged in the lesson and should take part in the class. In this way, overall language skills are enhanced that will help students in their academic and general life as well.

I’m Lana, a tutor with around 9 years of experience in the industry. Geography has been my favorite subject since my middle school years. The fascinating transformation of the lands and the partition of the seasides inspired me to choose this subject as my major in BS and MS. I’ve been tutoring geography students, environmental sciences, history, and earth sciences students for years. I can tutor any type of curriculum. However, my main experience is tutoring three main curricula, i.e., IGCSE, IB, and GCSE. The majority of my past students belonged to the UAE, Hong Kong, the USA, and the UK.

Students in my sessions are allowed to express their ideas and opinions. I allow my students to work in a friendly environment because I believe that the students can learn more efficiently in a student-centered and friendly environment. Such an environment gives them the confidence to raise questions and share their queries without any hesitation. In addition to that, I also assign homework to the students, such as reading tasks or writing the summary of the previous lecture. Reason being that homework allows the students to spend more time with course material, ultimately helping them master the concepts.
