Hi everyone! My name is Rahaf, and I’m a very passionate English tutor with over 9 years of teaching experience. I’m enthusiastic about tutoring many disciplines of the English language, mainly English Literature. I’ve worked as a senior GRE English teacher in an academy where I taught groups of students and also offered one-on-one sessions to the students who needed extra help. Upon completing my Master's in Economics, I quickly understood the importance of economics in understanding the world we live in. I have experience working in the financial sector, where I analysed market trends and predicted economic shifts. Approximately nine years ago, I transitioned into teaching, where I was able to apply my real-world experiences in the classroom. I have taught micro, macro, and international economics at different institutions.

For example, when explaining supply and demand, I could bring up a recent occurrence such as a new tax or a drought that affected food prices. Moreover, I have discovered that engaging activities, such as mini-market simulations or budgeting exercises, assist students in understanding the difficulties of economic theories. I work to assist students in understanding how the concepts they are studying can be applied in real-world situations.

My favorite approach for tutoring math to the elementary-level student is Concrete Representational Abstract (CRA) approach; this three-step-learning approach allows my students to manipulate concrete objects for drawing abstract observations and then solving math problems with created abstract notions. For high-level students, I use inductive, deductive, analytic, problem-solving, and synthetic approaches depending on the available resources to the student.

My time in Ireland, where there is a strong literary tradition, made me really interested in writing and teaching English literature. In the past nine years, I have done different jobs. I taught at colleges in Dublin, held writing workshops in London, and taught literature courses online to people all over the world. I like to mix old English literature with modern stories to show how storytelling is always changing and important.
Literature is a way for people to have conversations across different time periods. When I study classic works, I always try to connect them to stories and ideas that are relevant today. This helps students understand that the themes and emotions in these classics are still important and relatable. How would Hamlet from Shakespeare's play react in today's world with technology? Which modern novels capture the spirit of "Pride and Prejudice"? I aim to make every class engaging and meaningful by having discussions, analyzing information, and doing creative activities.
